AUG 7, 2024:
Attention book lovers! Our August colloquium will explore local library network, the services they offer, and the recent trend of book banning in our public schools and libraries.
Libraries provide so many incredible (and free!) services to our community, but they're often overlooked. And lately, libraries have been the target of book banning and other hateful, fascist attacks on free speech and self-expression.
We'll hear from a variety of speakers throughout the evening:
Jenni Fontanilla is the City Librarian of the Stockton-San Joaquin County Public Library and has been with the Library since 2006.
Jaz Isordia is the Librarian Trainee from the Manteca Branch. She's also enrolled in San Jose State's MLIS program, with a focus on adult program and services and unhoused communities.
Lisa Lennon-Wilkins is the president of Lodi Education Association (LEA) and a science teacher for Lodi Unified School District. She will shed some light on what's been happening in Lodi's school libraries.
